YMCA School’s Out – Before & Afterschool Programs

YMCA School’s Out – Before & Afterschool Programs

2024-2025 Registration now Open!

All programs will start TBD.

Our School’s Out programs are committed to creating a stimulating and nurturing environment for all children and their families. We believe in building community in order to provide a sense of safety and belonging for all. We aim to partner with families to support children physically, mentally, and emotionally so they may reach their fullest potential.

  • Help children develop healthy self-esteem
  • Allow children to learn through discovery
  • Offer developmentally appropriate activities
  • Help children make new friends and find community
  • Help children pursue interests they are passionate about
  • Provide opportunities to try new things
  • Encourage healthy living practices
  • Support children in becoming curious learners and engaged community members
  • Provide an environment where children may learn, grow, and thrive

We also want to support and strengthen families by providing opportunities for

  • building community with other families
  • sharing values
  • celebrating diversity
  • laughter and play
  • supporting each other

All morning programs open at 7:00 AM Monday through Friday when school is in session.

All afternoon programs close at 6:00 PM Monday through Friday when school is in session, with the exception of the Marbletown Programs which end at 5:45 PM.

YMCA School’s Out programs will open two hours later if there is a two-hour delay.

We do not provide afterschool care on days when school dismisses early due to worsening weather conditions or for any unexpected reason. On those days, your child will be sent home on the bus or will need to be picked up. Please have arrangements in place through your child’s school should these situations arise.

Please sign up for the Remind app to receive School’s Out notifications to receive up-to-date program announcements and information (i.e., delayed openings and emergency dismissals): or text the message @kf88hg to 81010

A drop-in option is available for both registered families and visitors. All children must be registered and fully paid in advance PRIOR to drop off. We will no longer accept unannounced drop ins. Space is limited, and we cannot guarantee that a spot will be available with short notice, so it is best to register as far in advance as possible. For your convenience, you may register and pay online at any time.

If your child is already enrolled in a School’s Out program and needs to be there an additional day, the drop-in rate is:

  • $26 for AM program only
  • $36 for PM program only
  • $54 for both AM and PM program

If your child is not registered in a School’s Out program, they can attend as a visitor. The visitor drop-in rate is:

  • $40 for AM program only
  • $54 for PM program only
  • $70 for both AM and PM program

You can register online. Click here to register for additional drop in days.

As of August 1, 2022, New York State and Ulster County are increasing access to Childcare Subsidies significantly. Many more families with much higher incomes will qualify this school year.  Even if you did not previously qualify, you may now qualify under the new rules.

Under these new rules, you may be eligible for the Ulster County Childcare Assistance Program (not administered by the YMCA).

Family SizeMaximum Gross Income

Because of this major new funding that is now available to families in Ulster County, many YMCA scholarships will be replaced by  the Ulster County Childcare Assistance Program. More information is available here:

If you apply and are not approved for County Childcare Assistance, you may still apply for YMCA financial aid. Please contact the YMCA Registrar’s Office to request an application by email at or by phone at 845-338-3810 ext: 122
